The operations are located in Hämeenlinna, Southern Finland. Our products are seen all over the world in tough and sometimes extreme applications.

Solution provider is the term we use. We are driven by customers needs while our customers are driven with unique applications. Sisu Axles assists them to equip their vehicles with axle systems that they do not find anywhere else.

Sisu Axles serves customers who are rather niché market suppliers than those who make products for high volume vehicle industry. Tailoring for special purposes and applications knowledge are key words to describe our know-how.

Our solutions are available all over the world and they are supported by the highly specialized R&D team in Finland and by the spares department with high availability of necessary parts to eliminate unexpected downtime of the customers´ vehicles.

Company History

1931

Suomen Autoteollisuus was formed. Sisu brand was formed.

1943

Vanaja truck brand established and Sisu trucks manufacturing starts.

1948

Vanaja branded busses and trucks

1968

Suomen Autoteollisuus and Vanajan autotehdas were merged.

1969

Production of terminal tractors starts.

1975

Suomen autoteollisuus became a state owned company.

1981

Company name changed to Sisu Auto

1985

New axle factory

1994

Valmet’s transportation and tractor business units were merged into Sisu corporation

1995

Sisu Axles subsidiary formed

1995

Partek acquired Sisu, Sisu Axles was kept separate -> Sisu Defence

1995

New Patria corporation formed

1999

Majority of Sisu Axles sold to private equity

2002-2008

Various ownership arrangements made, Sisu Axles shares were transferred to share holders

Marmon Holdings, Inc. acquired all Sisu Axles shares
